Soen (PC24)

We are super duper proud to announce the PC24 Sunday headliner, which currently has the most Spotify listeners of any PC booking ever:

SOEN (Swe)

When Soen announced the autumn leg of the Memorial tour, we were lucky enough to be able to add an earlier start at Babel, meaning they can close our 10 year anniversary celebration in a grand style with their powerful, mellow and melodic progressive metal.

Soen were initially formed in 2004 by drummer Martin Lopez (Amon Amarth 1996-1998, Opeth 1997-2006) and guitarist Kim Platzbardis, but not publically announced until 2010 when bass player Steve di Giorgio (Testament and Sadus) and vocalist Joel Ekelöf (Willowtree) were also part of the band. Ever since their brilliant debut album “Cognitive” (2012), Soen has made music that is “melodic, heavy, intricate and very different from everything else” in Lopez’ own words, never shying away from exploration and analysis of self and society and with top notch production standards.

Although Soen have a sound of their own, it’s an increased likelihood that Soen is your cup of tea if you are into bands like A Perfect Circle, Katatonia, Opeth or Tool. On the production side, David Bottrill of Tool, Smashing Pumpkins and Muse fame mixed Cognitive and Tellurian (2014), while names like David Castillo (Opeth, Leprous, Candelmass etc), Iñaki Marconi (Sepultura, Katatonia, Leprous etc), Tony Lindgren (Billie Eilish, Paradise Lost etc) and Kane Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Bob Dylan etc) have worked on making Lykaia (2017) Lotus (2019), Imperial (2021) and Memorial (2023) as great as they are.

Soen have been a hard working live act, with around 300 concerts all over Europe, North and South America, including festivals like Wacken, Hellfest, Night of the Prog, Copenhell and Prog Power Europe. At the Progressive Circus 2024 stage you will see Martin Lopez on drums, Joel Ekelöf on vocals, Lars Enok Åhlund on keyboards and guitar, Cody Ford on lead guitar and Oleksii “Zlatoyar” Kobel on bass.

If you didn’t think that the lineup announced so far (Moon Safari, Ozric Tentacles, Agusa, Paatos, Green Asphalt/Egentligen Giant and Soniq Circus) already was proof that you should visit Progressive Circus 2024, this should make it obvious that you need to visit Malmö September 28-29. Oh, and there’s one really nice announcement remaining…
