Beardfish (2025)

Progressive Circus are incredibly happy to announce a mini tour with one of Sweden’s best prog rock bands:

BEARDFISH!!!

Ever since their debut in 2003 this Gävle band has delivered some fantastically smart and powerful music, both on album and on stage. It’s no surprise that Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy hailed Beardfish as a favourite band of his, and invited them as support on their tours. With epic songs, concept albums and a wide variety of musical styles and moods, the tag ”prog rock” fits Beardfish well, but there’s also a foundation in classic rock and simply high quality song writing with great riffs, strong melodies and vintage keyboards that strikes a vibe. If you’re into 70’s rock that has parts of Frank Zappa’s playfulness, the heaviness of King Crimson and harmonies of Gentle Giant, chances are you’ll fall for Beardfish!

One of the band’s last gigs before a long break was at Progressive Circus 2015, and it’s awesome to now get their first reunion tour together, with dates at Brygghuset in Stockholm february 13, Musikens hus in Gothenburg february 14 and Folkets hus & park in Skurup in Skåne february 15. On stage you will experience the fabulous quartet of Rikard Sjöblom on vocals, guitar and keyboards (also Big Big Train, Gungfly and solo), David Zackrisson on guitar, Magnus Östgren on drums and the always superb Robert Hansen on bass. Apart from favourites from their first 12 years, we will also hear some just released material from „Songs from Beating Hearts”, released November 1 2024.

SONIQ CIRCUS joins the tour as support, with their 70’s flavoured progressive rock with hints of modern metal. During the last years, the band has released Chapter 1 and 2 of a musical story about a bunch of strangers whose destinies intertwine on a cursed cruise, which has gotten some really great reviews. Soniq Circus always give a rocking and fun show for fans of prog and good rock.

The concert in Skurup is arranged in collaboration with Club UFO, and also includes ATLAS, who released a Camel/Genesis/Kaipa flavoured cult album “Blå Vardag” in 1979 but disbanded shortly thereafter. After more than 35 years, the band got together to play at Progressive Circus 2016, which caused fans to travel from different places in Europe, and now it’s finally time to see the band on stage again – 9 years later. Do not miss!!
